Samuel August Will Be Charged For Son’s Murder
posted (November 8, 2018)

Samuel August will be charged for double murder. Police had said that the 35 year old backhoe operator was not mentally fit to face such a charge - but that has changed - based on advice from the DPP.

August has been released from the hospital and tomorrow he will be charged for the murder of his own son, Samir August and the child’s guardian and grandmother, 53 year old Louise Young.  They were both killed on October 31st at 2:00 AM when August took the city council backhoe assigned to him and rammed into the house where they slept.

A psychiatric assessment said that he was not in his right mind at the time.  Today police told us why they have decided to go ahead with the double murder charge:..

ASP Alejandro Cowo, O.C., C.I.B., Belize City
"Reference Samuel August, he has been discharged from the hospital. Police are in the process of preparing charges for him, there are several charged that will be levied on him beginning with incident that happened at Faber's Road last week and then after he escaped from the hospital where he damaged a vehicle. So all those charges will be prepared today, I believe by tomorrow morning he will be taken to the court to answer for all of the charged that will be given to him."

Jules Vasquez
"Regarding Faber's Road, the charge will not be murder?"

ASP Alejandro Cowo
"The charges will be 2 counts of murder and other charges."

Jules Vasquez
"So it will be murder?"

ASP Alejandro Cowo
"Yes, it will be murder."

Jules Vasquez
"Now, how have you all reached his point despite the psychiatric issues that Mr. August has?"

ASP Alejandro Cowo
"Well as I mentioned earlier, the file was sent to the DDP office, we have received advise from them and that's they advise they have given and that is the advice we are presenting with the charges."

August was charged for two murders late this evening. He is expected to face more than a dozen charges - and we’ll tell you what they are tomorrow night.
