21 year old Tracey Betancourt has been charged for Lamont Lipka’s murder - but she wasn’t the one who pulled the †rigger and shot the American businessman 6 times at this San Pedro Restaurant.
Today, police told us that they are closing in on the alleged gunman:
ASP Alejandro Cowo, O.C., C.I.B., Belize City
"Tracey Betancourt, 21 year old Belizean of San Mateo San Pedro, she was arrested and charged with the crime of murder, conspiracy to commit murder along with another male person who has not yet been detained. This is reference to the shooting death of Mr. Lamont Lipka which occurred on the 13th of May 2018."

"We know she was not the shooter because the shooter was a male. How is that she came to be charged for these charges when the only thing we know about her is 2 days later she was responsible for a room ammunition was found?"
ASP Alejandro Cowo
"Well that is based on the investigation the police conducted. There are other evidence that the police has that indicates that she was part of that shooting."
Jules Vasquez
"Is there any known reason why she did this? Did she do this on behalf of someone else? Was she contracted to this? Or was it a misunderstanding having to do with something else?"
ASP Alejandro Cowo
"Well this is something we are still trying to establish. As we know Mr. Lipka had not been involved in any kind of illegal activities, nor had he mentioned if anybody was threatening him or has any dispute with anybody before the incident happened."

"Is there any information to suggest that the actual trigger man, was flown into San Pedro for the purpose of executing this murder?"
ASP Alejandro Cowo
"That is part of the investigation that we will withhold at this moment Jules, we don't want to give all the specifics with regards to the investigation."
Jules Vasquez
"Are you able to say what gave the impetus or the push for you all to finally bring charges against a known suspect 5 months later?"
ASP Alejandro Cowo
"Well, you have to remember every investigation that we deal with, we work as soon as we have information and evidence and then we move after. If during the month that there was no information, we were dormant for 2, 3 months but as we get a lead, we follow it up and from there the arrest resulted."

"So was there new information?"
ASP Alejandro Cowo
"There was new information coming to the police."
Lipka was murdered in May.
