ASP Alejandro Cowo- OC, CIB
"Sometime after 11 in the morning police visited 2.5 miles on the Phillip Goldson Highway, almost in front of Easy Inn Hotel, where they observed a male person lying on the ground with severe injuries to the body. The male person was transported to the Karl Huesner Memorial Hospital where he died shortly afterwards. He was identified as Mr. Arturo Orlando Requena, a 56 year old taxi driver. What we understand is that Mr. Requena had just dropped off a family member at the hotel and he went down from the direction of the Haulover Bridge, towards Palotti. He took the first round-about and came back again, going towards the Haulover Bridge. He stopped on the other side of the road in front of Easy Inn and began to yell for the person that he had just dropped off. He went and crossed the meridian and as soon as he crossed the meridian a vehicle was coming from the direction of the Haulover towards Palotti. He was knocked down. The driver of the vehicle is presently in police custody and providing a statement."

Tomorrow, we'll let you know if that driver was charged.
