And while that accident in Toledo claimed the life of a 57 year old, in the city, it was a 56 year old Cab driver that was run over and killed.
Arthur Requena, a well-known Belize City taxi man, was hit by 40 year-old Cristo Rey Villager Diovan Cesar Tzib near mile 2 on the Philip Goldson Highway yesterday, some time around 11 a.m.
Requena was crossing the road between the Matalon Building and Easy Inn when he was struck by Tzib's pickup truck - which belongs to BAHA. He died shortly after.
We are told that police have retrieved and reviewed surveillance video footage from businesses within the area to determine just how the accident took place. A check with the Police Press Office indicates that no formal charges have been brought against Tzib, who is a senior quarantine inspector for BAHA. He has been served with a notice of intended prosecution.
