Independence Police have been quick to detain four men after a brazen robbery last night in the heart of the village. It happened at Jian store at 7:45 when four masked men dressed in black, one of them with a 38 revolver held up the couple who owns the store. They helped themselves to the cash register which had 600 dollars. Plus they stole an iPhone X, a bottle of alcohol and a chain.
It was all caught on surveillance cameras and police have four men detained tonight. The four suspects - who are from Belize City - are believed to have gone to Independence to commit the robbery and then caught a bus headed back towards Dangriga. Police got a tip and called their Dangriga counterparts who found them on the bus 6 miles from the Dangriga junction. We understand some money was recovered.
