SMART Supports BERT For CPR Trianing
posted (November 13, 2018)
Right now, the Belize Emergency Response Team (BERT) is conducting a training for school children countrywide on how to administer CPR to persons having a heart attacks.

September was celebrated as CPR month in Latin America and Caribbean, as a member of the American Heart Association, BERT trained just over 3,000 students in their program called "Hands Only CPR" in the Corozal, Orange Walk, and Belize Districts. They want to continue in the other 3 districts, but they need funding. And so, they are accepting donations from members of the business community to carry on.

Speednet Communications, better known as "SMART", is one corporate citizen to answer their call for funding. Today, the company handed over a cheque for $6,000. The press was invited to attend, and 7News spoke with both BERT and SMART's representatives about the Hands Only CPR initiative for the school children. Here's what they told us:

BERT is looking for other businesses who are interested in helping them to fund the program, as they try to take the program to the rest of the country, including San Pedro and Caye Caulker.
