BDF Private Fidel Williams continues to recover after losing an eye in a terrible mishap. It happened at 9:20 on Wednesday at the Forward Operating Base in the Toledo District. Williams went to unhitch a BDF vessel, lost his footing, and fell face first into a submerged metal pipe, which dislodged his left eye. The surgeon had to remove his eye and it has been replaced with an artificial eye. He did not suffer other injuries.
The BDF scrambled to get him to the KHMH. BDF Lt. Col. Luis Sutherland confirmed that they sent the BDF Defender with a combat medic within 20 minutes of the accident. That transported him to the KHMH by 1:00 pm where the eye surgeon was waiting.
He remains in stable condition at the KHMH.
