ACP Joseph Myvette - Head, NCIB
"On Friday, the 16th of November, sometime after 1:30 p.m. San Ignacio Police was called to Ying Long Shop in Unitedville Village, where upon arrival, it was reported to them that sometime around 1 p.m., 3 armed male persons had entered the store in an attempt to rob those that were in the store. In the process, the proprietor of the store received one gunshot to his left foot. In the process, he then fired upon the assailants, during which time, we believe that one was injured. An undisclosed amount of money was taken during the robbery, and sometime shortly after 2 p.m., a 17 year-old minor arrived at the Western Regional Hospital with one gunshot injury to the back of his neck. He has since been admitted at the hospital under the police guard, but was since released, and he's now in police custody pending that investigation, as well as other investigations in the Belmopan area."

As police noted - the 17 year old is being investigated for other armed robberies including the one at Tai Fu store in Belmopan where the robber was caught on camera fumbling with a firearm.
