We also asked Matura about Fire Chief Ted Smith. It has been awhile since we have seen him out on fire scenes. Matura says Smith is on pre-retirement leave and the search is on for his replacement. Matura told us more.

"Right now I am not sure of that. I'm just acting as the fire chief presently until his retirement. Like you said he is on retirement leave. When his leave is up then we will see where we move from there."
