CITO and Taiwan Team up to Transform Transport Sector

In a couple of years from now, Belize well have it's own centralized motor vehicle registration and licensing database, and the Ministry of Transport will be able to operate in a similar manner to the Departments of Motor Vehicle that exists in the different states in the US.

It's part of the country's push toward E-Government, and in this instance, the Government officials want the transport departments of the 9 different municipalities in Belize to feed all their information into one centralized system known as the Belize Motor Vehicle Registration and License System. The Taiwanese Government is partnering with the Ministry of Transport and the Central Information Technology Office (CITO) to make this project a reality, and today, they held a soft launch of this new Motor Vehicle Registrate and License System.

7News attended and here's what the new Taiwanese Ambassador had to say about the program:

A joint press release from the Taiwanese Embassy and the Government of Belize says that by 2020, this project will establish an "integrated and centralized transport system" for the entire country by reforming and digitizing the transport processes , and services, and introducing necessary audit mechanism.
