posted (November 29, 2018)

Police have cracked the Marta Gonzalez murder case. They have arrested and charged 21 year old Christopher Bradley. Police picked him up in Pomona and according to the family, Bradley was actually at the house on Tuesday when the police arrived to search for Gonzalez's body. But he left for work shortly after. When we spoke to Gonzalez's son in law today, he said he can't say for sure if Bradley owed her and was just trying to get out of the debt by killing her or if he just wanted to rob her. Based on his information Bradley is known to be violent in the village and has gotten off previous assault charges. Today at the press briefing the police told us it is a case of robbery turn murder. Here is more.

ACP Joseph Myvett - Head, NCIB
"Dangriga police along with family members visited Pomona village where certain information was gathered and they visited the home of Eugenia Baldera where searches were conducted and items belonging to the deceased was found behind the yard, as a result further searches were done in a pit latrine which was located behind the yard which resulted in the discovery of a decomposed female body wrapped in a grey canvass later identified to be missing person Marta Gonzalez. As a result a post mortem was conducted on the body which revealed that she died from a stab wound to the chest, intensive police investigation has led to the detention of Christopher Albert Bradley, 21 years laborer of Pomona Village which later resulted in him being arrested and charged for the crime of murder.

"Well so far the information gathered seem to suggest that the motive was robbery. Apparently there was some dispute or conversations previous to the incident. I will say that at least one piece of jewelry believe to belong to the deceased was recovered and that is a part of the case."

Police have recovered a weapon but they still have to verify if it was indeed used in Gonzalez's murder. Police believe Bradley acted alone and the home owner Baldera was not involved. The police found Gonzalez' bucket and her cart outside Baldera's house.
