Montenegro’s Want Closure for Loved One Nerry
posted (November 29, 2018)

The family of Nerry Montenegro is desperate. They want to know if the body that was found in the New River near the Orange Walk bypass is his. But there are no concrete answers at this point because the post mortem is inconclusive. We will get to the police report on this case but first, to Montenegro's mother. Our colleagues at CTV-3 went to speak to her at the family's August Pine Ridge home. She says she reported him missing on Monday and since then she hasn't heard anything from him. The family just wants closure.

Remilia Montenegro - Mother
"Pues.. (Well I saw him on Sunday night around 7:00, I gave him food and then he went to lay down because he stays there and from there I went to church but I didn't check when I came back to see if he was sleeping until the next day I went to check and he wasn't't there."

Reporter
"The police brought the body for you to see, could you identify him?"

Remilia Montenegro
"No, I didn't see anything because it doesn't show anything."

Reporter
"And what made you think it was him?"

Remilia Montenegro
"Because the doctor told me he doesn't have a piece of his teeth here and he said it was him."

Reporter
"And the area where they found him, you all thought he was in that area as well?"

Remilia Montenegro
"Yes, because that is where he left two full buckets of water and his slippers were at the edge of the river (crying)."

Reporter
"And now what do you do now to see if it is really him?"

Remilia Montenegro

"Well, for the doctor to check him and check me (do DNA testing) to see if it is him and with that I can know for sure if it is him, right now I don't know if it is him or not."

As we told you the body was found without arms, which could have been because crocodiles got to him. His face was unrecognizable. The family says Montenegro has injuries to his head which he suffered in an accident and often has epileptic seizures.
