Police Shoot Rowdy ‘Griga Resident to Subdue Him

Dangriga police had to shoot a man in leg to get him to simmer down. The incident happened on Tuesday night. Police told us more.

"Dangriga police responded to a disturbance at a Chinese store where upon arrival one Nelson Jackson was observed behaving boisterously and as a result he was approached by officers in order to calm him down and remove him from the area but he kept on behaving in that fashion and at some point during his confrontation with the officers, he made a motion to go towards his pants waist with his right hand and as a result an officer took out his service firearm and fired one shot which caught him on his right upper leg. He is admitted at the Southern Regional hospital in a stable condition."

"No, none was found when he was searched after the incident."

Police say matters involving police such as these are investigated by the Crimes Investigations branch as well as the Professional Standards Branch.
