posted (November 29, 2018)

Right now, House Speaker Laura Tucker Longsworth is in Cotonou, Benin, where she is attending the 52nd Session of  African Caribbean and Pacific Group of States' Parliamentary Assembly, and the 36th Session of the ACP-EU Joint Parliamentary Assembly.

These events started yesterday, and continues until December 5th. As part her trip, House Speaker Tucker attended the meeting of the ACP Committee on Social Affairs and the Environment, which was held today. A government press release says that the House Speaker and other participants reviewed and discussed proposed amendments to the Committee's Draft Report on Combatting the Destabilizing Effects of Wildlife Trafficking in ACP countries, as well as the Draft Report on Reducing the Global Number of Out-of-School Children, Adolescents and Youth in ACP countries.

Yesterday, she also attended the meeting of the ACP Committee on Political Affairs, where she gave an update on Belize's national referendum on taking Guatemala's territorial Claim to the ICJ, which - as viewers know - will be held in April 2019.

The House Speaker is accompanied by Krysta Byrd, First Secretary at the Embassy of Belize in Brussels, Belgium.
