Northern Cops Foil Suspected Drug Plane Landing
posted (November 30, 2018)
There was another plane landing but this time, it landed at the Chetumal airport. And before that, police found a crashed truck in Corozal near the Pueblo Viejo ferry. Now, how are these two incidents connected you ask? Well here is what we found out. Around 2:00 this morning, Orange Walk and Corozal police got information that a plane would be landing near the El Progresso road in Corozal. When police responded to the area, all they found were edge lights set up on the road, about a mile long on either side, ready for a plane landing. But Corozal police got word that trucks were seen in the area and they went looking and caught up with a truck about to cross the Pueblo Viejo ferry. Our information is that the occupants of the vehicle opened fire on police but fortunately no one was injured. The men then forced the ferry worker to take them across. They then sped off when they reached to the other side and that is when they crashed into a tree. But it doesn't end there, we understand that another truck arrived, picked up the men in the crashed vehicle and drove off. So that is only one side of the story. It continues at the Chetumal airport where this hawker 700 jet requested permission to land. After landing, eyewitness reported that they say the pilot run off with a piece of luggage and just abandoned the plane. Mexican authorities have secured the plane. Our sources say it is believed that the local informants up north informed the pilot that police were coming and they aborted the mission and landed the plane in Chetumal instead. Belize police are working with their Mexican counterparts on this case. We will keep following it.
