The Mexican Spin On Drug Planes
posted (December 3, 2018)
Earlier you heard Deputy Commissioner of Police Chester Williams boasting about Belize police being better than the Mexicans because they forced a loaded drug jet to land in Chetumal.

Well, here's what the Mexicans say. Weekend newspapers all indicated that the aircraft was to land and leave its cargo in Belize - and The Sol Quintana Roo newspaper even went as far as declaring that the Zetas are [quote] "The masters and owners of Belize". The report further states that the Zetas are the ones who have landed nearly a dozen planes throughout mostly northern Belize, over the past months.

The Hawker 700 jet reportedly sought landing in Chetumal because it was running low on fuel. Mexican authorities say the aircraft pilot radioed their airport officials requesting to land on the basis of a malfunction.

The green light was given to the pilots and the plane made it to their tarmac, but its occupants got away by walking out of the plane and vanishing, leaving behind their prized cargo.

That cargo is considered a major discovery for Mexican authorities, because the 312 kilos discovered is of cocaine hydrochloride which means the drug had greater purity level and can produce up to 2,100 kilos of cocaine. This has a value of $20 million.

Officials found 43 large bags each weighing 25 kilos.

Each bag contained smaller manila envelopes with 282 packages wrapped in transparent plastic. The origin of the aircraft is not known since the serial number is believed to be false.
