Tanice Mejia is still in police custody after she allegedly shot her boyfriend, Bart Lucas in the groin. It happened yesterday morning at Mejia's home at the corner of Vernon Street and Magazine Road. Mejia and Lucas got into an argument and she allegedly shot him with what is reported to be an unlicensed 9mm pistol. Police found the injured Lucas walking on Vernon street and took him to the hospital. Mejia fled the scene and was later picked up by police. Police say the DPP will determine whether charges will be brought against Mejia.

"Police responded to someone being shot or someone with gunshot injuries on Vernon street. As a result police arrived on the scene and found Bartolomeu Lucas 32 year old resident of Brides Alley suffering from what appeared to be injuries to the groin area. He was transported to the hospital by police and what police know at this time is that Bart Lucas and his common law were involved in a domestic dispute and somewhere in this dispute a firearm was produced and the injuries were inflicted on him."

"We have obtained statements from both parties and those statements are being forwarded to the DPP for her directives."

The gun rumoured to have been used wasn't licensed. Police have not recovered this weapon. Police also confirmed that they have gotten previous reports of domestic violence involving this couple.
