For the last 6 months, Belize has been the pro-tem president of SICA, better known as the Central American Integration System.
For the past 2 days, Health Minister Pablo Marin has been hosting the 49th Ordinary Meeting of the Council of Ministers of Health of Central America and the Dominican Republic (COMISCA). They have been at the Placencia Hotel and Resort discussing how best to address health issues like the lifestyle illnesses: diabetes, hypertension and heart disease. They're also focusing on reducing the high rate of adolescent pregnancy within the SICA Member States.
At the end of the meeting, the Government Press Office got a chance to speak with Marin on this year's COMISCA deliberations:
Marin handed over the pro-tem presidency of SICA to Guatemala.
