Man Knocked Down Near Home
posted (December 10, 2018)
A man was knocked down and killed near his St. Matthews home. It happened on Saturday morning after 8:00. The victim is 26 year old Wilford Robinson. He was heading to a friend's house when he was hit. We spoke to his sister about the accident and she says contrary to reports, Wilford was not mentally challenged and he did not deliberately walk unto the heavily trafficked road to get run over.

Shanel Robinson, Sister
"My brother was crossing our gate going across the street when the vehicle overtook the bus and hit him. What we want to put out there is that nothing was wrong with my brother, nothing doesn't go like that where they said that he mentally challenged, nothing like that happened. He was already across the road when the vehicle hit him."

Courtney Weatherburne, reporter
"Where was heading when he was crossing the street?"

Shanel Robinson, Sister
"Well he was heading up to see a friend he has on the hilltop by the bus stop yes."

Courtney Weatherburne
"And did the residents or people say if the driver was speeding?"

Shanel Robinson, Sister
"Well, if you see the vehicle, anybody could tell you, the impact that he got wasn't anything nice, he is all broken up badly, they said as he was hit, the impact that he got when he hit the ground killed him right away."

Courtney Weatherburne
"Were you here when it happened?"

Shanel Robinson, Sister
"I wasn't here, my niece saw what happened. She was right there. She was the one who screamed and everyone else run out."

Courtney Weatherburne
"Then the guy he stopped the help you guys?"

Shanel Robinson, Sister
"He stopped and when my father went to him, and you know this the young man dad you knocked down and he looked at my dad and said no and walked away so it is like he doesn't care. He hasn't come to family, he saw us this morning and he didn't even say my condolences, I am sorry to what happened to your child, nothing like that so we just want justice for my brother because he deserves it."

Wilford had no kids.
