Police Finding It Hard To Bring Charges In Woman’s Murder
posted (December 10, 2018)
A 25 year old woman was killed in Santa Elena on Thursday night. Brenda Castellanos was hanging out with her friend 35 year old Jennis August when two gunmen fired indiscriminately on the yard. August was shot to the chest and the mother of a two year old died on the way to the hospital. Today, police told us that they know who did it but cannot get statements to make an arrest..

ASP Alejandro Cowo, CIB - Eastern Division
"Police have detained several persons who they have questioned, however, because of a lack of evidence. They had to be released. What we understand from the investigator is that several persons have been interviewed, however, they are very reluctant to cooperate with the investigators."

"Sir is this gang related?"

ASP Alejandro Cowo, CIB - Eastern Division
"It is what we believe is because of a dispute that occurred about a month ago if I'm not mistaken in that same location at a bar which we suspect led to this shooting. The intended target we suspect was inside of that yard when the shooting happened."

"We believe that the right person who did the shooting was detained, however that person had to be released because of the insufficient evidence - up to now. We are appealing to those who were there we know that they saw what happened to cooperate with us so that we can put a stop to this hideous crime involving these two females."

The other victim, August is stable.
