Ladyville Police have arrested a man for raping a 49 year old American woman in that village. ASP Cowo went over the details of the report - and disclosed the name of the alleged rapist:..

"She reported that about 9am, she was leaving her house on board of her Wingle pickup when she noticed a male person of dark complexion with a machete, standing beside her. A struggle ensued between them where the male person knocked her down and allegedly had sexual intercourse against her will and thereafter made away with eight thousand two hundred dollars Belize currency that she had in her possession."

"We believe that she has an idea who is the attacker and reference to that, I know that a male person was detained."
"Reference that incident with the female that was allegedly raped, police arrested and charged Adam Meighan, 31 years old Belizean of a Ladyville address for the crime of rape."

The victim had reportedly complained of a sexual assault weeks before.
