Over the past several months, we've been telling you about the initiatives that the Eastern Division Region 1's Commander, Howell Gillett, has been engaging in to boost morale amongst Southside cops.
The business community has been partnering with him to set up police booths at different stationary checkpoints, and Gillett has also been working out arrangements with different businesses to get discounts for his police officers. And, just in time for the Christmas season, he and the management of Public Supermarket came to an arrangement where officers from Region 1 are being given a 4% discount on purchases made at the stores.

Gillett tells us that the hope is that the officers will be motivated to increase and improve their performance with these small tokens of appreciation.
