Youth B-Ball Team Boasts Stellar Record
posted (December 13, 2018)

8 months ago, we introduced you to the Future Shock Basketball Team. It's an initiative by Clinton "Pulu" Lightburn. You'll know him a local basketball legend who now coaches young men, in an effort to provide them with positive activities to counteract the influence of the gang life-style that's all around them on Belize City's Southside

The team has been together for 3 years now, and in all of their 69 games on the court, they remain undefeated.  Last weekend, they went back to Mexico to defend their Championship in the Gatorade Bacalar Cup, and after a nail-biting game in the finals the Future Shock  ballers to defeat the Mexican team from Distrito Federal by a single point.

So, their winning streak continues unbroken, and today we spoke with their very proud coach about this unmatched, uncanny success:

Their performance so far has caught the attention of scouts 2 major Mexican Universities. 5 of the team's members have been offered an opportunity to visit the schools and find out if they would like to continue their education there in the years to come. We got a chance to speak with these promising young men, who are basically being offered a sports scholarship so early in their basketball careers.

Here's what they told us:

In a few months, the team will travel to Mexico to compete in the Copa Cancun Tournament for the first time.
