Staine Gets 16
posted (December 13, 2018)

For about 5 weeks now, we’ve been following the Supreme Court Trial of the 3 brothers, 46 year-old Phil Staine, 37 year-old Kareem Staine, and 41 year-old Orlando Staine, who were charged with murder. After a trial without jury, Justice Adolph Lucas acquitted

Kareem and Orlando Staine of both murder and manslaughter, but he found their other eldest brother, Phil Staine, guilty of manslaughter for the stabbing death of the 23 year-old BDF volunteer Denver Villafranco.

Well, Justice Lucas decided today that Phil Staine will spend 16 years and 5 months in jail. The judge sentenced him to spend 20 years in jail, but he subtracted 3 years and 7 months, because that’s how long Staine spent on remand awaiting trial.

As we told you, Crown Counsel Portia Ferguson called 3 main witnesses to testify in the trial of the 3 brothers, and they told the court that Phil Staine inflicted the stab wounds to Villafranco in January of 2015. One of the witnesses told the court that the deceased and the brothers were fighting in a drain and he saw when Phil Staine stabbed Villafranco.

All 3 defendants were represented by attorney Bryan Neal.
