Ladyville Teen Shot in Back

We turn now to a shooting in Ladyville which left a 17 year-old suffering from a gunshot injury to the back.

Police say that at around 11:30 a.m. on Saturday, December 15th, they visited Partridge Street in Ladyville, where they found 17 year-old Norman Haulze suffering from a gunshot wound to upper left side of his back.

Their investigation has so far revealed that another young man went to the house looking for someone else, and an argument erupted between Haulze and his shooter. This person began questioning Haulze about the other person, and because Haulze refused to cooperate, the assailant pulled out a weapon and struck him in the back with it. Unfortunately, the gun discharged a bullet, which hit Haulze in the upper left side of his back, and then exited in the lower left side.

Assistant Superintendent Alejandro Cowo from CIB in Belize City shared more information with the media today:

"On Saturday December 15th juts before midday, Ladyville Police visited 219 Partridge Street, where upon arrival they visited inside of a house where they observed a male person who was identified as Norman Haulze, 17 years old of that same address suffering from 2 apparent gunshot wounds to the lower and upper side of his back. Initial police information is that Mr. Norman Haulze along with a group of male persons were inside of the yard when they were approached by a male person of dark complexion who came and ask about an individual if he was there. Shortly thereafter an argument ensued between both of the male persons where the suspect hit Mr. Haulze with a firearm at his back which discharged hitting him to the back and causing the injuries to him. He is still admitted in a stable condition at the hospital."

Police say that they are looking for 1 man, and they initially detained 7 persons for questioning.
