Does New Truck mean no more Block Fires on San Pedro?
posted (December 17, 2018)
If you're an avid news watcher, you'll know that the island of San Pedro has been one of the communities in the country that has suffered the most devastation by huge fires. And when fires happen on the island town, entire blocks are wiped out because the blaze quickly spreads to nearby homes and business, due to the congested nature of the different neighborhoods.

The last terrible fire to happen there was back in June when a family of 4 perished inside their home in the Escalante Subdivision. 2 months later, 87 residents became homeless when another huge fire wiped out 10 homes.

The Fire Department has taken a beating in the public domain from victims who often say that they arrive late, unprepared, or without enough water to put out the flames. Well, the telecomms company, BTL, has decided that instead of joining the chorus of complaints against these public officers, they will donate a fire truck to aid them in their work on San Pedro. It was handed over today, and 7News was at the fire station to see the keys being handed over to the Fire Chief and the Government of Belize. Here's what the CEO of BTL had to say about the donation:

As you heard, the entire donation is valued at around $90,000.
