As we told you earlier on the news - a contingent of 10 Belizean journalists is in Guatemala City tonight. The trip is sponsored by the US Embassy and organized by Belize's Embassy in that Capital. They are there interviewing analysts, politicians, election officials and other journalists and others about the feeling in Guatemala leading up to the April 10th referendum in Belize.
One of the more interesting encounters was at a Guatemalan "think tank" called "Asi Es". They consulted on the referendum in that country and endorsed a "Yes to the ICJ" vote for Guatemalans. Today they told us that it wasn't because they want Belizean territory, it's because Guatemala - after decades of civil war - has to learn how to find peaceable solutions to conflicts:...
