Guatemalan Millennials don’t Care about Claim
posted (December 18, 2018)
And, finally, tonight from Guatemala we have the perspective of a younger person - a 25 year old who would be described as a millennial. Maria Fernanda Galan is a Research assistant at "Asi Es" - the Guatemalan "Think Tank" that we introduced you to yesterday.

Her perspective is refreshing because we've been hearing mostly from older Guatemalan males. But, her take is completely different. For her generation the Guatemalan claim to Belize is almost an irrelevancy:..

Maria Fernanda Galan
"We don't give that much of an importance to this matter. I think that we don't have this feeling that we need to solve anything with Belize. It's a more millennium thing that we don't get that pressure to solve a problem that we don't think exist and in school at least I can talk for myself, I was not thought that there was actually a problem with Belize regarding to territory. So I think that actually my generation is not that involve with the topic."

Regrettably, the demographic details from the Guatemalan referendum have not been released. Those would show the age of voters who went out to vote.
