Activist Jose Luis Espat is now leading the search for Anisha Young. It has been 10 days since she went missing and the family hasn't had any luck in finding her. So they turned to Espat to help them figure out the next step. Young's cousin, Sheree Salgado gave us an update and also expressed how difficult Christmas will be without her.
Sheree Salgado, Cousin
"Well we saw many cases that Mr. Espat worked on previously, so, we decided as family to bring him on board. So, Mr. Espat is working diligently with us right now help investigating anything, anything on the grounds, that people are willing to share."
Courtney Weatherburne, reporter
"Has he gotten any leads so far, anything he's observed so far, or can say concretely at this time about your case?"
Sheree Salgado
"Yes, Mr. Espat is working, as I said before, but because of the case being very sensitive, we don't want to say much. But the search for Annie is not off; it's just postponed for a bit until we can get all our information together."
Courtney Weatherburne
"So, at this time you guys are coming together as a family and trying to gather all the information you have, then see where you go from there?"
Sheree Salgado
"Yes, that's correct. Everyday we meet as a family, because we know that our loved one is out there and giving up is not a part of our options. So, until we can get everything together and work on a lead, then we'll resume our search."
Courtney Weatherburne
"Have you all given up completely the hope that you guys are going to fund her alive?"
Sheree Salgado
"Well, giving up, like I said is never a part of our options when it comes to finding Annie alive. We are hoping that she is out there, probably tied up, or someone has her incarcerated. Yet we are ready, we are waiting to see reality; we are facing reality. If she is dead, then we have to face it, but most of all, the family has high hopes that probably, we'll find her alive."
Courtney Weatherburne
"Have you all considered, it may sound far-fetched, a far-fetched idea. But that maybe she somehow left and didn't, for some reason didn't tell you guys anything? Or maybe she's in the US or something? I know it may be far-fetched, but have you guys considered that option?"
Sheree Salgado
"We know that that is not Annie's norm to do. If it was, probably somebody, one person out of that family she would have contacted and confided in that person and say "you know, I'm leaving and don't let them be worried. I don't want everybody to know". So we know that probably that is not the case' we want to hope that that's the case, but…"
"For the family, most of us are facing sleepless nights, most of us can't get ourselves together to say, you know, we're about to prepare for Christmas. It's something very difficult for the family to do, but at the end of the day, Courtney, we have to pull ourselves together knowing that Annie would probably want us to, yes, search for her, but work with priority."

"So you'll try to enjoy the family and all of that during Christmas."
Sheree Salgado
"We know that it won't be a Christmas, per say, but just to see, because most of us have children, so we want to not involve then in what we're going through and at least have that day for them. But we're not giving up hope on her."
