And keeping it in the Christmas spirit….Usually a library is a quiet zone but today, the Leo Bradley Library erupted in excitement when 250 kids gathered for their annual Christmas party. Coordinator Sarah Castillo says it is more than just a Christmas bash, it's a space to promote literacy.

"It is our Christmas party for the library, we invited the children who have been to the program from the four different libraries in Belize, we have the Leo Bradley library, the Thurton Library, the Lake I Library and the Port Loyola Library, we call it our whole year read in being that for the entire year we had them reading an partaking in different activities so this is just a close off for those programs."
Courtney Weatherburne:
"So this is an annual Christmas party?"

"Every year we have our annual Christmas party, we throw in games and activities, we invite Santa to come and sit with us, we will be providing food and drinks and of course everybody gets a gift to take home."
Courtney Weatherburne:
"You said they are from some of the programs from those libraries, tell us briefly about some of the programs you guys have?"
Sarah Castillo
"During the year we have had out child simulation month activities, we had our summer program, our interactive reading program, we just finished with our story reading competition we did our annual book fair and now we are here for our close off Christmas party."
"Everyone looks for a little treat during Christmas and we want to provide that, not only that, we want them to come into our library to experience the areas that we have and we want them to read the books, of course when they are here they are playing the games but it is something educational that they can also read and do."

"That was what you wanted for Christmas or you done have a lot of ball already?"

"So you come to this library to read and stuff?"

"Yes."

"So you done talk to Santa and tell he what you want for Christmas?"
