Elrington Dismisses Diputado’s Perspective
posted (December 20, 2018)
Responding to that characterization today, Elrington said his comments are irrelevant:

Hon. Wilfred Elrington
"The special agreement is simply and agreement entered into between the two countries to take the matter to the ICJ. That's a pre-requisite. The special agreement has nothing to do with the claim other than it authorizes the ICJ to hear the matter. Hs nothing to do with Belize's borders, where they are stated, where it is positioned - had nothing to do with it. You may not understand that and the Guatemalans may not understand that, but the special agreement has nothing to do with where the boundaries are or where the boundary is. So his asking that question is of no moment, no importance."
