Benque Shooting Victim Warned Police
posted (December 20, 2018)
There is no clear motive in the shooting of Benque resident Robert Galvez. Although Galvez recognized his attacker he could not say why the shooter would want him dead. Here's more from police.

ACP Joseph Myvett, Head, National Crimes Investigation Branch
"Benque Viejo police responded to a shooting incident on Churchhill Street at the residence of Roberto Galvez, where upon arrival, they were informed that Mr. Galvez had received several gunshot injuries and has already been transported to the San Ignacio Community Hospital. Initial investigations revealed that sometime around 9:40 pm Mr. Galvez arrived at his home on his motorcycle where he was met by a Hispanic male person dressed in dark clothing who fired several shots towards his direction. As a result, he received three gunshot injuries to his left arm and one to the left side of his abdomen. He was further transported to the Western Regional Hospital where he is listed in a stable condition."

Reporter:
"Has police been able to come up with a motive for this particular shooting? I know his son said on the media that it may have been some kind of internal rambling with a family member."

ACP Joseph Myvett:
"No. The victim was interviewed where he could not specifically give a motive, however, he indicated that he does know his attacker by face."

Police found 7 expended shells on the scene. Police say Galvez has come to the police station regarding other matters but they have not confirmed if any of those are linked to the shooting.
