Tonight there is still very little official information about the point blank murder of 35 year old Modesto Cucul, a police constable attached to the Belmopan formation. He died around midday yesterday after his car was ambushed on a village road in Toledo. What motivated the ambush is anyone's guess. However, as we told you yesterday, Cucul had a certain history that may have garnered him some enemies in the town.  This may have led to someone putting out a hit on him. 

When we looked at his S-10 pickup today it showed how serious the killers were.  

Three bullet holes shattered the glass window of the passenger's side. Blood stains still lingered on the bottom edge of the passenger's door; this was where the onslaught began.

An unsuspecting Cucul attempted to flee through the driver's side of the vehicle but the perpetrators gun was too fast.

As much as five bullet holes are noticeable but the rest of the glass is completely shattered. Blood also lingered on the edge of the driver's side of the vehicle as Cucul was shot several times in the upper chest and face area. Police tell us he died on the spot. In the meantime Cucul's wife is receiving treatment and is said to be in a stable condition. Three men remain in custody as investigations continue.
