You might call it a Christmas gift from Belmopan - but the price of Diesel and Premium fuel is going down quite a bit for Christmas day.
At midnight, just as Santa is striking up that old sleigh, diesel is going down by 92 cents, from $10.75 per gallon to 9.83 per gallon, and premium is going down from $11.32 to $10.41 per gallon. This is the first time since March of this year that diesel has been under ten dollars per gallon.
And to make this news even merrier, the diesel you'll be putting in is now significantly cleaner than it used to be. It now meets the Central American Standard for low sulfur diesel. The fuel has only 118 parts per million of sulfur deposits which is about 98% less than the 5,000 parts per million we used to with the petrocaribe fuel. And, it's cheaper, so, our wallets, those diesel engines and the atmosphere are getting gifts this season.
