Carrying a Serious Criminal Kit on A Bus

Diligent police work also led the cops to intercept a man who was carrying a prohibited firearm on a James Bus this morning.

At around 7:00, the Independence police were carrying out a routine checkpoint at the junction of Monkey River Road and the Southern Highway. They stopped a James Bus, and a search of led them to find 36 year-old Marvin Monge, a resident of Belize City, with a .45 pistol, which had 4 live rounds.

Police shared more with the press this morning:

Police reports are that Monge had other item which appeared suspicious. The cops found a single vision binoculars, a ski mask, a black peak cap, and a black t-shirt. Further police investigations led the cops to detain another man who had a knapsack which contained a black ski mask.

Late reports tell us he is from Honduras, not Belize City.
