Craftsman Killed In His Home Trying to Defend Woman
posted (January 2, 2019)
And while that was the 5th and final murder for New Year's day, the first was equally deranged where a 58 year old craftsman was viciously hacked to death in the quiet village of Lucky Strike, on the old Northern Highway.

It happened shortly after 4:00 on New Year's morning and it has left residents of Lucky Strike in utter disbelief. That's because the violence did not end with the bloody homicide. Emanuel Pech followed the story to Lucky Strike and has the following report.

Emanuel Pech reporting
The blood stains on this heap of wood and on the floor, are the telltale signs of the violence that was unleashed

Under this shed in the wee hours of Tuesday morning. The victim is 58 year old Howard Coleman, a resident of Lucky Strike Village; and this is his humble wooden hut.

He lived here alone, for the most part, except for a woman whom he had been sheltering for the past 3 to 5 months.

He was a humble man by all accounts whose only fault was being too kind.

"He use to bring people. He use to go and sell his carvings at Placencia and so he lft the house by itself. A lot of time they broke in his house and took his stuff. He had the lady here who take care of the house when he is not here. We tell him not to bring a lot of women at his home, because he would be in problme one of these days. He says that nothing will happen. He took the young lady as his daughter. The way I see it is that he gave his life for her."

And that is just what happened according to police.

ACP Chester Williams- Deputy Compol
"It emanates from a female where the accused man Mr. Geovannie Jones had drop the female home and after doing so, he was told to leave the home by the female and Mr. Coleman. Mr. Jones refused to leave and ended up in a fist fight with Mr. Coleman. Mr. Coleman then walked outside and was followed by Jones where Jones inflicted the fatal chop wounds to him."

Coleman received multiple chop wounds to the head and back.

And if that weren't repulsive enough, police say the accused man then left the bloody scene and proceeded inside the house where he raped the woman that Coleman attempted to protect.

After raping her, Jones allegedly asked the woman to help him come up with a cover up story, or he would have to kill her as well.

The situation has infuriated family members and residents who are unaccustomed to this level of violence in the relatively peaceful village of Lucky Strike.

"I got mad because is a cool person. He didn't like problems."

"It was really a shock to us. We didn't expect that, because he wasn't the type to get in trouble with anyone. He was a humble and quite person and the way they killed him, he didn't deserve that."

Coleman was a wood craftsman by trade. In this picture he is seen carving the poles for his workshed, where he would create some truly amazing works.

Now, his latest finished piece is left stained with his own blood. And his last unfinished piece shall always remain that way, and its true form a mystery to everyone.

"We the family just want justice for him, because he didn't deserve this."

Police have since retrieved the murder weapon, a machete, which family members told us was the same one Coleman used for his carvings.

A 26 year old, who is also a carver, but from the adjoining Rock Stone Pond Village, has since been detained pending the outcome of the murder investigation.
