Cops Stop Gunmen on a Move
posted (January 3, 2019)

Sharp police work last night may have stopped a murder before it happened.  Around 8:00, the GSU intercepted this car, a silver PT Cruiser on Cran Street with four men inside.  But police searched it and found nothing.  Still, they sent it to Queen Street for a second search, and that's when police found a hidden compartment near the gearstick with a 9 millimeter pistol stowed inside.  The pistol had 13 live rounds.

The four men inside are believed to be connected to the same gang, which lost one of its principal figures on New Year's night, Joseph Babb who was murdered.

They are 23 year old Lionel Longsworth, 22 year old Harold Usher, 23 year old Jeffrey Buller and 22 year old Dane Gillett.

They were all taken to court today to answer to charges of kept unlicensed firearm and ammunition.  In court today Longsworth took the rap and pleaded guilty to the charges but when he learned that the other men would not get their charges dropped if he plead guilty, he withdrew his guilty plea and changed it to not guilty. All four have since been remanded into custody until the 27th of February.

Notably, police are also investigating the possibility that this same silver PT Cruiser was involved in a shooting near Wax House on New Year's night, two hours after Babb was shot. Wax House is the turf of a rival gang.
