Bar Association Braces Police
posted (January 4, 2019)
The Leal family say they are still looking for a lawyer to try their case against the two police officers. As it turns out, this might not prove too challenging for them because the entire Bar Association has their back. In a press release today, the Bar - coming a little late to the party - joined the public outcry against this latest public example of police brutality.

A release from the Bar states, quote, "The incident…depicts a heinous, unjustifiable and possibly life-threatening use of violence against a subdued individual who was in no way resisting arrest." The press release ends on a stern note to the police department to thoroughly and impartially investigate this matter so that the persons involved may be dealt with to the fullest extent of the law. This, the bar says, is, quote, crucial to ensuring the continued public confidence in the Belize Police Department."
