And while Belize's murder rate is right up there with the very high ones in Central America, you can't say the same for our number of deportees from the USA.
The 2018 report from the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) Enforcement and Removal Operations (ERO) office shows that Belize only had 91 deportations in 2018, up 10% from the 82 in the previous year.
This is in contrast to Mexico, Guatemala, Honduras and El Salvador - all of our neighbors - which were the top four countries to have a total of more than two hundred thousand deportees sent back from the US in 2018.
