Tenants say they had no idea their neighbor Stephen Leiva had been stabbed outside his room door. They just woke up to the news.

"The neighbor next door said if I heard what happened last night. I said no I don't know what happened, he say police is in the yard searching and all kind of thing so I didn't know what happened."

Based on the report, 43 year old Stephen Leiva was in his rented room at the foot of the Bel china bridge when he heard a knock on the door. It was two young girls, one of them only 16 and known to him. She asked him if she could use his bathroom which is at the back of the house. She asked him to follow her. He did and that's when a man emerged and attacked Leiva. He was stabbed to the arms and neck. Fortunately he survived. His friends say someone is out to get him.

"Well a couple of times he talk about certain things that people don't like him and that they hate him just how he live and things like that and the other day someone came and slashed his tire, because I show him, because it look like his vehicle punctured, you see somebody slash your tire, I told him be careful, watch out because you lucky it is not you they came and stab and then last night it look like that is what happened."

"The police say that they came to rob him so I don't know what they came to rob him for but I guess it is more than rob because they stabbed him in his neck so I guess they wanted to kill him too."

Leiva's friends say he has been living there for about a year and according to the landlord, he is a good tenant.

"But he doesn't give me any trouble, to me he doesn't give any trouble, nothing nothing, because he has been here awhile and he takes care of the place when he goes to the doctor."

Residents say they have seen the 16 year old girl in that area before. She is reported to live across the street. Police are seeking her and the other female for questioning tonight.
