Curlan Committed to Supreme Court

The Magistrate's Court has found that 29 year-old Curlan Phillips, a Belize City stevedore must stand trial for 8 criminal offenses including attempted murder and grievous harm.

In March of 2017, he allegedly did a drive-by and shot Inmar and Aspinal Welch on Jones Street in the Martin's area.

Police charged Phillips with 2 counts of attempted murder, 2 of counts of dangerous harm, 3 counts of use of deadly means of harm, and one count of grievous harm.

Today, after more than 10 months of waiting, Phillips attended the preliminary inquiry into the case against him. And, after reviewing the investigation file, Senior Magistrate Aretha Ford ordered that he must stand trial in a few months. She released him on bail of $5,000, and he must show up for his next court date, which is scheduled for April 2nd, 2019.
