As soon as Foreign Minister Wilfred Elrington exited the Supreme Court today, the press asked him why he wasn't among the Foreign Ministers who signed the public declaration on last week Wednesday in support of going to the International Court of Justice.

These 5 foreign ministers have all collectively agreed that given their experience on Belize-Guatemala bilateral relations, and the history of Guatemala's territorial claim, going to the ICJ is the best attempt at resolution that Belize has been given so far.

Elrington would have fit right in, given that his position on the referendum is exactly as these former foreign ministers. So, it was noticeable to see him in the audience, instead of being a part of the panel of officials urging Belizeans to vote yes on April 10th. Reports are that some of these former foreign ministers were not willing to participate in the event if Elrington was at the front with them, and so the press put that one to him.
