One of her core duties as a single mother is to provide for Vera and her son and right now she doesn’t have any money to get by. So she is asking for assistance to start up her business.

Raquel Margarita Cocom - Mother
"I do not want to go work and leave her because I think that traumatize me a lot because I don't know if he will come and take her away and I don't know where he will be and I just want to get a pack of used clothing to sell and I don't know, maybe there will be someone there to help me for that. With that, I will sustain my children with the needs that they will have, that's all."

Courtney Weatherburne
"At this point you're a single mother and you have to handle all the expenses on your own."

Raquel Margarita Cocom
"At this time yes, I'm a single mother now and I have to look for them, I have to provide everything that they need. I know it's going to be tough, I know but with the help and that may be out there and with god's grace and be strong again I could come out with it."

Elisa Castellanos - Human Rights Defender
"Termination for me of case management with take another 3 months. We want to try to get this bail of clothes for Ms. Cocom, she doesn't want to leave her child in somebody else's care. She has an excellent space where she can start up a little clothes selling business, so we want to get her that. Friday, Human Services is coming to visit to do assessments and try to figure out how we are going to deal with schooling and all of that and also what social support services Ms. Cocom can get onto while we try to see where we can find this bail. So if there is anybody out there who can donate a bail of clothing that would be excellent. That way, we don't have to be begging and pulling from everywhere because my family and my friends and my colleagues."

If you would like to assist you can call Cocom at 621-1626.
