Our next story is about the Teak tree - or many of them. Now, Teak is not well known in Belize, and is not an indigenous wood. But it is a highly sought after hardwood used in making furniture, and it fetches top dollar on the world market. And that’s why some in Belize are growing those tall and slender teak trees which take decades to mature. Â
It’s a long term investment, but farmer and resort owner John Carr of Banana Bank made that investment 18 years ago, and told us today how he is reaping the rewards:
