posted (January 18, 2019)

And turning now to the fire out of Libertad Village which we reported on last night, police say that 39 year-old Nolberto Hical suffered no injury even though he was locked inside his burning apartment.

As we told you, on Wednesday afternoon at around 2:00, he arrived home, and a short while later, his neighbors spotted smoke streaming from his wooden home. They tried to rescue him, but the door was locked, and when they finally got it open, Hical collapsed from smoke inhalation.

Police told the press that that very fortunately, he suffered no injury:

ACP Joseph Myvette - Head, NCIB
“An update on the Libertad fire, during which 1 Nolberto Hical was rescued from his residence in Libertad, and in a semi-unconscious state. He has since been released from the Corozal Community Hospital the same day. He obviously did not have any injuries, other than seemingly, he was under the influence of alcohol.â€￾

The cause of the fire, which completely falttened the wooden apartment, has still not been determined.
