Man Pleads Guilty To Weed, Friends Get Off
posted (January 22, 2019)
Yesterday police, assisted by a K-9 unit, searched the home of 34-year-old Jason Rivers. Nothing was found inside the house or on the person of Rivers, or his younger brother Gildon and associates Fitzroy Miles and Delvin Lopez, who were present at the time. However the K-9 unit did pick up the sent of cannabis coming from Rivers' vehicle. After a quick check, police discovered about 4 ounces of weed hidden in the rear wheel of the vehicle. All four men were arrested and appeared in court yesterday where they were charged with possession of controlled drugs. Gildon Rivers and Fitzroy Miles both pled guilty to that charge and were each fined $1000. The group appeared in court again today, this time for the charge of drug trafficking. They all pled not guilty to the charge and Miles instead pled guilty to possession and was charged another $1000. Jason Rivers and Delvin Lopez both walk away with no charges. In addition to the $3000 total in fines, the men must each pay a $5 court charge.
