The Eastern Division - which is the police department's largest and hardest formation to police has a new commander. He is Senior Superintendent Alden Dawson - who comes in from the Rural area. He will be backed up by Superintendent Daniel Arzu who takes over the hotspot, which is region one or the city's southside. "My main thing was to come back and work with every officer that is under my command with an intention to keep the crime down as much as possible."

"You are replacing an officer Mr. Howell Gillett, who is showtime. He was known for his working with the community, for his strong community policing, while you were taking care of the crimes on Operation. Explain to me what is the strategy now and how will you replace Mr. Howell Gillett?"
Supt. Daniel Arzu
"The work will just continue. Mr. Gillette was outstanding and was good at community policing. He was well rounded, but in terms of myself and the strategies, it will continue. We will maintain the community policing, will maintain our connection with members of the public and also continue our engagement on the streets to ensure that we reduce crime at all cost."

"What will you do to try and reach out to these waring groups who are one beef dies and then 3 months later another one picks up."

"The work has begun. We continue to go into the areas infested by criminal gangs and we've been having this mediation, we've have actually engage in a dialogue to minimize the activities of crime and in so doing we also have our officers within those areas to ensure that the areas are kept sterile and safe for our residents and that's what we are doing. If you notice the last murder in the city has been a while. I don't want to be quick to say anything, but what we are doing at this point in time is certainly working."
Dawson replaces ACP Mariano who goes to deal with Administration in Belmopan. Dawson is expected to be promoted to Assistant Commissioner.
