Rivers Revisited
posted (January 23, 2019)
Yesterday we told you about 4 men who were arrested and charged with drug trafficking and possession of controlled drugs. Two of those men pleaded guilty to possession and another one pleaded guilty to possession instead of drug trafficking, while the other two walked away free. Well, one of those who walked away free was not satisfied with the charges brought against him specifically. Jason Rivers spoke to us today about why he feels he was charged unfairly.

Jason Rivers - Says his charges are unfair
"To what the court report said was false, because the amount of weed whe they seh they found and weh they charge me with weh deh mih ah ker me da station fa da 16.9 grams and deh mek it look like I only woulda get charge fi that. And deh want add on my name to a next weed weh deh say deh find behind the house."

"Deh noh put that well they find the 16.9 grams outside ah the vehicle fi Mr. Rivers dey put me on the larger amount, like dey find this whole amount ah weed ina the same location by the wheel and that wasn't that amount ah weed. It was the 16.9grams dat deh find."

Reporter:
"So, what you're saying is that there was some weed found near your vehicle, but there was 16.9 grams. Somewhere else in the yard there was, I guess more weed and that would have changed the charge that they gave you. So explain to us about the difference in charges that you say there was."

Jason Rivers - Says his charges are unfair
"Well the difference in charges. The amount dey seh they mih ah charge we fa they find outside ah the vehicle dey seh dey h charge me fi that because da my behicle. But my breda and deh pled guilty to dat so da like possession weh dey find 100 so they want charge me fi the next amount ah weed weh dey find behind the house weh I have no knowledge of, same way the weed dey find behind the vehicle I have no knowledge of. It was in my car I woulda take resposibility fi it, but it wasn't in my car right. It was outside the vehicle with a small portion and now a bigger portion dehy mih want add my name pan it, check. So weh deh di do right now da like defamation ah my career, everything to my music, fi even get a job to my career."

Again, Rivers was freed of all charges after his two colleagues pled guilty.
