Roaring Creek Teen Recovering
posted (January 24, 2019)

Jahmeel Reyes: He is the 15 year old Roaring Creek boy who was shot in the head in mid-January. He was also badly beaten and then buried alive. It was a ruthless attack but he survived, and after about 2 weeks in the hospital he is at home tonight. While it is a relief for the family, they aren’t getting too excited as yet because the swelling in his head hasn’t gone down enough for doctors to remove the bullet which is still lodged in the back of his head. Today we spoke to his aunt via phone about his condition.

"Right now as we speak, Jahmeel was discharged yesterday around midday he got here a little after 2:00 he got home yesterday. The picture you saw on Facebook, well a video sorry was taken when he was at the hospital after he was taken off life support, that video was taken at the hospital. At the moment, as we speak, Jahmeel is here, he is trying, he speaks a little. He moves you know, he recognize certain faces so he is getting there just keep in mind that he still has that bullet lodged in his head."

"Did the doctor say how long they will have to wait until the swelling goes down and until they can even consider doing the surgery?"

"Jahmeel got an appointment to go to the hospital in two weeks’ time so then the mother will be given an update as to what the family is to expect when it comes to Jahmeel. We are hoping for the best, let me say that first but he is still not out of the woods with the bullet lodged until he gets the surgery is when we will have things as clear as it is supposed to be."

The family needs to raise $11,000 for the surgery and is pleading for assistance. They continue to host fund raiser events and if you would like to assist you can call Card at 600-4023.
