It is not as mega as the Jalsa Salana in the UK that 7NEWS attended in August but the Ahmadiyya Muslim president says their 5th annual convention here in Belize is equally important and serves the same purpose: to educate people about the Muslim faith. The Ahmadiyya Muslim leaders held a press conference this morning to discuss this weekend’s convention and two other upcoming events. First here is more about the convention as well as their very first medical camp.
And the Ahmadiyya Muslim League begins on Sunday at the SJC. The commissioner told us more.
Also an international aid agency named Humanity First is working along with the Ahmadiyya Muslims to assist with social outreach programs. A representative discussed the focus of their work in Belize.
Again, the convention will be held on Friday and Saturday at the ITVET. The medical camp opened today and will remain open until January 31st. The camp will be set up at their headquarters at 529 Buttonwood Bay Blvd. The basketball championships will begin on Sunday at 9:00 at SJC. The medical camp will also be set up at the ITVET on Friday and Saturday for the convention as well as on Sunday at the championship games.
